The Spear & Greataxe

The Spear stands out as an indispensable weapon in team dynamics, offering significant crowd control, Rend, and Weaken effects, along with self-empowerment. It proves to be an all-encompassing choice for those aiming to excel in high-level PvE encounters. Attuned Leather Pants are prioritized due to their superior stat perks. While not topping any DPS charts, this Spear build is a jack of all trades, valuable for its Weaken/Rend and clumping tools.

The recommended skill rotation involves starting with Gravity Well, followed by Maelstrom, Perforate, Skewer, and finishing with Cyclone or Sweep. Two light attacks before using an ability maximize DPS, and dodging is reserved for backstabs and safety.

Among Spear abilities, Perforate stands out as the most versatile, delivering thrust attacks with Rend and Weaken effects and impressive damage. Fortifying Perforate armor enhances defensive capabilities. Skewer is a potent ability with a substantial weaken effect, bleed, and self-empowerment, making it a priority choice. Sweep, an optional skill, provides crowd control by knocking down enemies in an area.

In contrast, the Great Axe (GA) focuses on keeping mobs tightly grouped for efficient combat. Gravity Well is a premier crowd control ability, excelling at gathering large groups of foes. Maelstrom tightens groupings and applies an enfeebling weaken effect, but caution is needed to avoid being trapped within the mob cluster. Reap proves useful for drawing in distant targets before deploying crowd control abilities or as a handy interrupt during intense combat scenarios. This combination maximizes team efficiency by effectively turning multiple foes into a single combat entity.
